As President Tinubu’s administration approaches its midterm on May 29, the scorecards will concentrate on the performance of the various ministries during the first quarter of 2025.

Underperforming ministries have already began feeling the heat of increased scrutiny, according to one aide, who stated that the confidential review, which covers the first quarter of 2025, is anticipated “any time from now.”

According to the official, the various government ministries’ performance reports are now being verified and given ratings by the CDCU, a Presidency institution in charge of evaluating ministers’ performance on a quarterly basis.

Each ministry uploaded proof of projects and policy milestones to a secure CDCU portal last month, according to sources familiar with the procedure.

Since then, a verification team headed by Hadiza Bala-Usman, the head of the Unit, has been going through the submissions and rating them in relation to the performance bonds that the ministers signed during the cabinet retreat in October 2023.

The officials said that Bala-Usman is striving to get the reports to the President Tinubu’s desk as quickly as possible, but they opted to speak on condition of anonymity since they were not permitted to discuss the subject.

When asked how some high-profile cabinet members were rated, an insider said that most ministers performed mediocrely, with only a handful scoring higher than average.

According to sources, the report is supposed to give President Tinubu the most recent data on the performance of his cabinet members, even if the President is not anticipated to act right away on any minister’s or ministry’s performance.

Additionally, the data will also assist the president in discussing areas for improvement with some of his ministers or cabinet members, if needed.
