Veteran entertainer and activist Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has emphasized that the nationwide protest held on August 1 is just the beginning of a broader movement for change in Nigeria. In a statement, Charly Boy urged Nigerians to maintain the momentum and continue putting pressure on the government to address the country’s pressing issues.

He acknowledged the significant turnout across several states, highlighting how the large-scale protests send a powerful message to the government about the public’s demand for better governance. Charly Boy expressed his pride in the bravery and determination of Nigerian youths who participated in the demonstrations, calling them a crucial force for the country’s future.

Charly Boy’s tweet on the platform X read: “Brave, Strong, and determined Nigerian youths, una make me proud today. First: Una congratulations on a job well done. But our work just start. As most of us don awake from our slumber in the realization say gofment no care for us, no send us, we no go gree for people wey no gree for us. We must keep fighting to retrieve our stolen future.”

He emphasized the need for sustained efforts, stating, “Let’s keep the pressure up because this devilish government must understand that the tide is changing. They must never feel safe again unless dey start doing the needful.”

Charly Boy concluded by reiterating his belief in the power of Nigerian youth, saying, “The Salvation Of Nigeria Lies In The Hands of its Exceptional Youths. I Twale for Una.” His statement underscores the importance of continued civic engagement and activism to hold the government accountable and push for necessary reforms
