Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), the Rivers administrator has arrived at the Senate for the hearing on the state’s ₦1.48 trillion budget.
Ibas appeared before the Senate Ad-Hoc Committee on Emergency Rule in Rivers State with other important authorities, including members of the economic team.

After President Bola Tinubu declared a state of emergency on March 18, 2025, the Senate restated weeks ago its commitment to making sure the people of Rivers State were not shortchanged.
The Rivers administrator, and other important officials were scheduled to appear before the Joint National Assembly Ad Hoc Committee to Oversee Emergency Rule in Rivers State in order to defend the state’s budget of ₦1.48 trillion for 2025.

According to a previous statement, the Senate assured Nigerians that it was determined to ensure the people of Rivers State “are not shortchanged due to the declaration of emergency rule by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on March 18”.
Similarly, in his letter to the Senate and the House of Representatives last week, President Bola Tinubu requested their consideration and approval of a ₦1.48 trillion appropriation bill for Rivers State.
