Rivers Assembly to vet 23 CTC chairmen, members today.
Port Harcourt: The Rivers State House of Assembly, under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Victor Oko Jumbo, has invited nominees for screening as Caretaker Committee (CTC) Chairmen and members for the state’s 23 local government areas today. This follows the expiration of the tenure of elected chairmen and councillors.
Governor Sir Sminialayi Fubara directed Heads of Local Government Administration to assume leadership temporarily after the tenure expired, leading to a standoff with outgoing chairmen refusing to vacate.
A memo signed by Clerk of the House G.M. Gills-West invites 23 nominees for chairman and seven nominees per LGA for committee member screening. The process is in accordance with Section 9(5) of Rivers State Local Government Law No.5 of 2018.
Nominees must bring twelve sets of CVs and original/photocopies of credentials to the screening scheduled for Wednesday, 19th June 2024, 8:00 a.m. at the Rivers State House of Assembly Auditorium, Admin. Block, Port Harcourt Government House.
