The Rivers State Police Command has verified that a group of roughly thirty thugs, purportedly commanded by his Chief Security Officer (CSO) and Chief of Staff (CoS), violently attacked, tortured, and coerced Hon. Goodluck Iheanacho, the Administrator of Ahoada-East Local Government Area.

The event allegedly happened at the council’s secretariat on June 20, 2025, at approximately 1:40 p.m.

Police claimed that Iheanacho was taken captive by the attackers, who also coerced him into signing a resignation letter that went viral on social media.

Videos that went viral over the weekend showed the gang attacking the distressed administrator inside the council headquarters.

The video also showed another council official, Mr. Alabi, the Secretary of the Local Government Council, being treated in an equally dehumanising way.

The statement further confirmed that Iheanacho sustained injuries during the violent incident and is currently receiving medical treatment. “He is in stable condition,” Iringe-Koko added.

The attack on Iheanachor comes after the LGA chairman reportedly accused the Rivers state sole administrator, Ibas of deducting 200 million from LGA allocations.

The CSO, the CoS, and other participants in the crime were ordered by the CP to submit for interrogation at the Police State Headquarters, Moscow Road, Port Harcourt.

The Command has reiterated its dedication to upholding law and order in the state and urged citizens to keep composure and assist law enforcement in their ongoing investigations.
