President Bola Tinubu has been conferred an honorary knighthood by the government of Saint Lucia on Tuesday during his state visit to the country. Reports state that it is the highest honour in the land.
The Office of the Prime Minister of Saint Lucia stated that the Governor General of Saint Lucia had approved the title Knight Commander of the Order of Saint Lucia (KCOSL) upon Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre’s recommendation.

“The Government of Saint Lucia is pleased to announce that, acting on the advice of the Prime Minister, the Governor General has conferred the title of Knight Commander of the Order of Saint Lucia (KCOSL) upon His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the statement read.
It added that, “Upon completion of the formal investiture, His Excellency will be accorded the title: H.E. Bola Ahmed Tinubu, KCOSL (Hon..), President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

Since arriving in Vieux Fort at 5:30 p.m. local time on Saturday, President Tinubu has been in St Lucia on a state visit. This visit is the first of two stops on his South American and Caribbean tour.

According to a statement released by Tinubu’s spokeswoman Bayo Onanuga on Friday, the President would pay courtesy visit to Governor General His Excellency Cyril Errol Melchiades Charles of St Lucia and Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre.
Despite conflicting information about the president’s visit, the presidency previously stated that Tinubu’s visit was to enable both nations create diplomatic ties and not a vacation.
