The Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) has made a startling disclosure, revealing that alleged anti-party activities are insufficient to sanction or punish former Rivers state governor and present FCT minister, Nyesom Wike, except a formal petition is submitted with supporting evidence.
Mr. Okechukwu Osuoha, the party’s Deputy National Legal Adviser, claims that despite the creation of a disciplinary committee to look into and handle internal violations, no member has been punished yet, because no formal complaints have been made.

Speaking on Monday in Abuja, Osuoha said that although the PDP’s National Executive Committee had set up a disciplinary committee headed by elder statesman Chief Tom Ikimi and with Eyitayo Jegede serving as its secretary, no member had yet to face consequences.
“People often ask me specifically about the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike — why don’t we discipline him? Why don’t we take action? I tell them: It is not enough to merely say someone has committed an offence,” Osuoha stated.

He stressed that anybody accusing a party member must file a formal petition and be ready to testify and present substantial evidence when the accused is summoned.
“When that petition is written and presented, the petitioner must also be ready to come and testify. If the person accused is invited, you must come with your evidence,” he said.
Osuoha asserts that the difficulties in enforcing disciplinary laws are not specific to the PDP but rather are a reflection of larger structural problems with Nigeria’s judicial and political systems.

“This is the same problem with our wider Nigerian system. It is not just about pointing out anomalies; the challenge is following them up to a conclusion,” he added.
