The Nigeria First Policy, which prohibited the importation of foreign commodities, has been approved for execution by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
This was revealed in a statement on Wednesday, according to NTA.
This calls for Ministries, Departments, and Agencies to immediately adopt updated procurement thresholds that put Nigeria First first.
According to Tinubu, the permission is predicated on Adebowale Adedokun, the BPP Director General, recommending that it be in line with the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
A statement from the presidency addressing this development read, “The details of the implementation guidelines will be provided by the DG, BPP, Dr. Adebowale A. Adedokun, FCIPS, CMILT, ACFE,”

Recall that on May 3rd, 2025, Tinubu enforced a ban on the importation of foreign products, particularly those that can be produced locally in Nigeria.
