President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday, April 21, returned to Nigeria after a two-week trip to France and the United Kingdom. The return of the president has sparked a range of conflicting responses from Nigerians on social media.
Presidential aide Bayo Onanuga posted that the president had arrived the Presidential Wing at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

Among the high-ranking government officials who welcomed him were FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, National Security Advisor Nuhu Ribadu, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, and Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume.
Tinubu left the nation on April 2 for Paris on what was described as a “short working visit” where he was supposed to assess his administration’s accomplishments.
Following his departure, there has been a surge in violence, insecurity and herdsmen attacks in several regions of the country, particularly in Plateau and Benue states, which led to criticism and doubt about the trip’s necessity and timing.
In response to Bayo Onanuga’s tweet announcing the President’s return, X users reacted quickly and, in many cases, harshly with several users accused the president of leaving the nation.
See some reactions below;
@gentlebjgiant, who described Tinubu’s return as, “A thug and his disciples.”

Another user, @Gozie_Neme, wrote, “What difference does it make? He left a mess and returned to a bigger one.”
While Tinubu has received major backlash, other Tinubu’s supporters have expressed their warm welcome to the president.
