“Universities’ removal from IPPIS has further advanced institutional autonomy.” Wike said.
The FCT minister also disclosed that letting the Tertiary Education Trust fund (TETFUND) research funds remain within institutions provides them with an opportunity to participate in innovative and forward thinking research projects.
Wike stated hat these strategies will ensure that Nigerian universities are better positioned and equipped to respond efficiently to the educational needs of the 21st century.
He expressed appreciation to the University of Calabar for conferring the honorary degree on him noting that such recognition motivates him to consistently provide support and tangible contributions to national progress and development.

“I am truly honoured by this recognition. UniCal has inscribed my name in its golden records, and I accept this honour with immense responsibility,” he said.
