Vice Admiral Ibok-Etteh Ibas (retd), the only administrator of Rivers State, stated that his administration was dedicated to establishing robust institutions within the state and encouraging efficiency for public service that is focused on results.
This was stated by the Vice admiral when the Rivers State Government, in collaboration with the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, or NIPSS, opened a four-day Transformational Leadership Training Workshop for Sustainable Development.
The session started yesterday in Port Harcourt and is being attended by directors from several ministries, local government administrators, and permanent secretaries.
The vice admiral stated that the goal of top-level civil servant leadership training is to improve service delivery, efficiency, and productivity throughout the state’s public sector.
Ibas stressed the need for a contemporary, flexible, and forward-thinking public service that can fulfil growing citizen expectations in the face of swift global change in his introductory remarks.
In his remarks, Director-General of NIPSS, Prof. Ayo Omotayo, described the workshop’s theme, “Transformational Leadership for Sustainable Development,”as timely, given the evolving demands of governance.
“This course is meticulously designed to bridge leadership gaps and equip participants with contemporary strategies for collaborative governance.

“We commend the Rivers State Government for its commitment to sustainable economic growth, infrastructural renewal, and social development, all of which require leadership excellence at all levels.”
