Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), hosted a meeting with the suspended members of the Rivers State House of Assembly on Monday.
The FCT minister hosted the lawmakers to dinner in the United Kingdom (UK) after meeting with some of his political allies in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, on Sunday.
This was disclosed on the minister’s Facebook page by Lere Olayinka, his media aide.

Recall that President Bola Tinubu suspended the lawmakers after he declared a state of emergency in Rivers State over of security concerns. In addition, Governor Sim Fubara received a six-month suspension.
The lingering conflict between the FCT minister and Fubara had an adverse effect on the Rivers State political system and Fubara’s career as governor.
Taking to his social media page, Lere wrote, “Yesterday, the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, hosted Rivers State House of Assembly members who are in the United Kingdom for Legislative Capacity Building, to a dinner. Wike left Nigeria on Sunday night after visiting his political friends and associates in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.”

According to a statement released last week by Martins Wachukwu, special assistant on media to Rivers Assembly Speaker Martin Amaewhule, the UK tour intends to improve the lawmakers’ legislative skills.

Meanwhile, Wike has been making rounds online over a video clip where he was captured allegedly limping on his right foot.
The video surfaced after rumours that the FCT minister had slumped and was immediately flown abroad for medical reasons. Although the minister had debunked the claims, stating that he was healthy, the now viral video seems to leave several Nigerians with a different reality.
