Prince Harry, Meghan Markle Set to Move Back to UK, 6 Years After

Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, are planning a return to the UK in a few weeks, six years after stepping back as senior working royals.

According to The Telegraph, King Charles III’s youngest son and his spouse have made the unexpected decision to leave the United States by the end of the month to settle in a private, non-royal residence outside London.

Multiple UK news outlets, including the BBC and The Guardian, report that the couple’s two children—Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5—are already registered to begin attending a British school at the start of the academic year in early September.

According to reports, the couple had already decided on a new home, but it would not be one of the numerous royal residences.

Since retiring as working royals in 2020, Harry and Meghan have resided in California, and the kids haven’t visited their grandfather since 2022.

In 2020, Harry, 41, and Meghan, 45, departed Britain for North America due to a severe family dispute that got worse after Harry released his candid memoir, “Spare.”

Backstory…

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle got married in May 2018, but their relationship with the British royal establishment became increasingly strained during the following two years.

The couple faced intense scrutiny from the British tabloid press, while Harry became increasingly critical of how the media treated Meghan and how he believed the royal institution handled the situation.

The conflict was further exacerbated by an unrestrained interview with US talk show diva Oprah Winfrey.

Charles, 77, was informed on Sunday that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex intended to move back to the United Kingdom, according to the Press Association.

The monarch “welcomes the opportunity to see more of the family in a personal capacity”, but there will be no change in their status, and the couple would still not be working royals, PA said.

However, following the ruling on his state-funded security arrangements, Prince Harry stated that security concerns prevented him from comfortably bringing his family to the United Kingdom.
