Tension Erupts as Protest Hits APC Headquarters, Tinubu Urged to Sack Wike

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) national office has been besieged by some young people who are protesting and demanding that Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), be fired for allegedly disrespecting the party leaders.

On Friday, January 23, demonstrators gathered at the ruling party’s national secretariat with signs that read things like “President Tinubu, sack Wike now” and “Stop disrespecting APC members.”

APC is not Wike’s property, the FCT minister is not above the law, and a number of additional placards criticizing his behaviour and character.

The protest came just days after the public outburst between the minister and the national secretary of the APC, Ajibola Basiru, over the political development in Rivers state.

Meanwhile this is not the first of its kind as some organisations had also previously called for the dismissal of Nyesom Wike as FCT minister following his conduct.
