Resist Peter Obi and NDC, A vote for Obi will kill APGA – Anambra Govt

Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Anambra State Government has urged members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to defend their political strongholds and counter the influence of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

In a post tagged “A Betrayal Alert for Ndi APGA” on Monday via X, the state government alleged that Peter Obi, the NDC presidential candidate, has been on a mission to destroy APGA since 2014.

“A vote for Peter Obi and the NDC is a vote to kill APGA,” the post reads.

“Since 2014, Obi has had one mission: to destroy the party that made him. In 2025, while President Tinubu stood with APGA, Obi backed opposition to bury us.

“Do not be deceived by a man who abandoned his own house. Anambra is APGA. Ndi APGA, defend your home. Resist the NDC.”

Backstory…

Recall that, Peter Obi served as the Governor of Anambra State from March 2006 to March 2014, with his first tenure briefly interrupted by his impeachment in November 2006.

The dispute escalated on September 14 when Anambra State Commissioner for Finance, Izuchukwu Okafor, stated that the current administration was still servicing loans inherited from past governments, specifically pointing to the tenures of former governors Willie Obiano and Peter Obi.

Obi subsequently rejected the assertions, maintaining that he left office without any outstanding financial liabilities owed by the state government.

He stated that his administration incurred no debts related to contracts, salaries, or pensions, adding that he left N2.1 billion in ecological funds untouched for the state.

Two days later, the Anambra State Government published official records detailing the external debt portfolio it claims was inherited from Obi’s administration.
