Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), announced on Thursday that peace had returned to Rivers, his home state, and that he owed no one an explanation on the terms of the truce.

Wike made this revelation in an Abuja during a media brief.

He claimed that some individuals had transformed the Rivers State situation into a “oil well” from which they were extracting illegal monies for their own self-serving ends. He said that these fifth columnists were no longer pleased that he had made amends with Siminalayi Fubara, the state’s suspended governor.

“Peace has returned to Rivers State,” Wike said firmly.

“I don’t owe anybody any explanation on the terms of the truce” he added.

He described some of the people as opportunists who were profiting from the conflict between him and Fubara and accused them of taking advantage of the Rivers situation for their own ends.

Recall that Wike and Governor Fubara recently called a truce after a meeting with President Tinubu.

This was followed with several mixed reactions from the state stakeholders and other Fubara supporters due to the controversial conditions that followed the  new found peace.
