APC denies circulating list of senatorial candidates, calls it fake and unauthorized

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has disowned a purported list of senatorial candidates for future elections currently making the rounds on social media and various online platforms, describing it as fake and unauthorized.

In a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the APC said the document titled “Concluded List of APC Senatorial Candidates So Far” was not issued by the party and should be ignored by members and the general public.

Morka stressed that the party had not released any list of senatorial candidates and cautioned against the spread of unverified information capable of misleading party supporters and Nigerians.

“The list is fake and did not emanate from the Party,” the statement read.

The APC urged party members, stakeholders, media organisations and the public to disregard the publication entirely, noting that only the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) has the authority to announce candidates produced through its primary elections and other constitutionally approved processes.

According to the statement, such announcements can only be made through officially recognised communication channels of the party.

The ruling party also expressed concern over the circulation of false information, warning that such actions could create confusion and weaken confidence in its internal democratic procedures.

“We urge all Party members and stakeholders to refrain from circulating unverified information capable of causing confusion, misleading the public or undermining the integrity of the Party’s democratic processes,” the statement added.
