Meanwhile, major stars including Shakira, Mariah Carey, Lauryn Hill, New Edition, and Pink were not selected despite being nominated.

More than 1,200 artists, historians, and music industry professionals participated in the voting process that determined the final list of inductees.

The induction ceremony is scheduled to take place on 14 November at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles.

It is also worth noting that earlier this year, Fela made history as the first African musician to receive a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
