Kankara Local Government Area in Katsina State has reportedly been overrun by armed bandits under the leadership of infamous warlord Babaro.
In a post on his verified X handle, security analyst Bakatsine revealed the situation, saying that the attackers had killed multiple locals, banned local farming activities, and forced the area’s essential services to collapse.

“BREAKING: Bandits led by feared warlord Babaro seize control of Kankara LGA, Katsina State. Farming banned from Marabar Kankara to Yantumaki, dozens killed/kidnapped, healthcare collapsed. Residents beg Gov. @dikko_radda & FG for urgent intervention,” the post read.

Violence and kidnappings have continuously plagued Kankara LGA, with previous incidents causing national alarm, most notably the December 2020 kidnapping of more than 300 schoolboys.
As at the time of report, the Katsina State Government and security authorities had not yet released an official statement on the development.
