Dr. Yunusa Tanko, the National Coordinator for Obidient Movement Worldwide, revealed on Tuesday that Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate for 2023, has sent his proposal for a single tenure to the opposition alliance for review.
Tanko revealed the information when the former governor of Anambra State was given the chieftaincy title of “Sarki Maskan” (War Hero) and a letter of commendation for his unselfish devotion and commitment to the Pantami community in Gombe.

Along with a letter of congratulations written by Mai Martaba Abdullahi, the District Head of Pantami Palace, the former media assistant to Peter Obi was also given the title of “Dan Maje Babba Pantanmi.”
On the side of the event, while speaking to correspondents, Tanko told The news men that Peter Obi’s proposal for a four-year single tenure has been officially sent for review to the opposition coalition led by opposition leaders such as former Senate President David Mark, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and Nasir El-Rufai, the immediate past governor of Kaduna State.

“We have presented it to the coalition. It is there for them to make a decision. But we are confident it can work. This is a pronouncement rooted in integrity, and Peter Obi embodies that. What Nigeria needs now are leaders with integrity,” he said.
According to Tanko, the former Anambra State governor does not need more than four years to change the state of the country and rescue its economy from collapse.
“Obi has said clearly—even though the single term is not in the constitution—that he is committing himself to serve only one tenure. He believes four years is more than enough to accomplish his mission. That shows you how prepared and focused he is.

“Even stabilising electricity alone will solve a multitude of problems. He is promising that under his leadership, Nigeria will become an exporting country again. Planes will no longer leave our airports empty,” Tanko stated.
He concluded by stating that the recognition from Pantami was a “testament to the bridge-building legacy” of Peter Obi and an proof that the political tide may be shifting ahead of 2027.
