Valentines Day Spoiler as FG warns against money bouquet ahead of Val’s Day

Amid the excitement for the forthcoming valentines day,  Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has warned against “money bouquets”, classifying it as a form of naira abuse, adding it to offences such as spraying, squeezing, selling, and defacing naira notes.

Money bouquets are made by folding money into the shape of a flower petal and then arranging them in a certain arrangement.

Anyone found tampering with the naira faces a minimum penalty of six months in prison or a fine of at least ₦50,000 under the CBN Act.

As law enforcement authorities increase their efforts against criminals across the country, Nigerians have been asked to report infractions and safeguard the naira.

Additionally, the CBN offered toll-free hotlines for reporting such activity to the apex bank.

This comes just a few days before Valentine’s Day, when many people show their love for their significant others by giving them cash bouquets and other presents.
