Two members of the House of Representatives on Tuesday dumped opposition parties for the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.<\/p>\n

Peter Akpanke, of Obanliku\/Obudu\/Bekwara Federal Constituency in Cross River State, left the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the APC, while Paul Nnamchi from Enugu East\/Isi-Uzo Federal Constituency in Enugu State, dumped the Labour Party for the ruling APC.<\/p>\n

Speaker Tajudeen Abbas announced the decisions of the lawmakers at plenary on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, a bill to amend the 2024 Appropriation Act to extend the capital component to December 31, 2025, has scaled second reading in the House of Representatives.<\/p>\n

According to the Speaker, the reason for the extension was lack of funding for the budget.<\/p>\n

Also, President Bola Tinubu has written to the House of Representatives on his decision to withhold assent to the National Assembly Library Trust Fund Establishment Bill, citing funding concerns.<\/p>\n

Tinubu stated that the bill runs in conflict with other laws and goes against public interest.<\/p>\n
