Former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido<\/a> has dismissed rumors suggesting he is defecting to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing the party as a \u201csmaller skin\u201d that does not reflect the scale of his political legacy.<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Addressing journalists in Kano on Tuesday, Sule Lamido<\/a> reiterated his loyalty to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), acknowledging the party\u2019s internal issues but maintaining his commitment to its principles.<\/p>\n

He also expressed openness to supporting any political alliance\u2014within or outside the PDP\u2014that is committed to securing Nigeria\u2019s future as the country looks ahead to the 2027 general elections.<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe in Nigeria. So any arrangements, be it within or outside the Peoples Democratic Party, that will secure and save Nigeria, I am ready to work with it in 2027,\u201d he said.<\/em><\/p>\n

Addressing the rumors linking him to the ADC, the former Foreign Affairs Minister firmly dismissed the claims, emphasizing that his political identity remains firmly rooted in the PDP.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m still in PDP, even though PDP has some problems, but I cannot renounce my history. I can\u2019t simply walk out of my skin and crawl in flesh and blood and be conferred with a smaller skin called ADC. I cannot,\u201d he said.<\/em><\/p>\n

He highlighted the significant role the PDP has played in shaping his political career, having entrusted him with key positions like Minister of Foreign Affairs and Governor of Jigawa State.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, I cannot simply renounce my history, my legacy and my heritage and say, \u2018Today I got something new\u2019. I am out of PDP. I will not do that,\u201d Lamido added.<\/em><\/p>\n

On the ongoing push for the creation of additional states in Nigeria, Sule Lamido noted that while the demand may be legitimate, it does little to address the country\u2019s most pressing challenges.<\/p>\n

\u201cWill the creation of new states solve our problems insecurity, poverty, hunger and division between the North and the South? There are more pressing issues than creating additional states,\u201d he said.<\/em><\/p>\n

Sule Lamido also commented on Senator Rabi\u2019u Kwankwaso\u2019s recent visit to President Bola Tinubu, stating that the former Kano governor was well within his rights to take such an action.<\/p>\n
