The former governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, has responded to a statement attributed to Monday Okpebholo, the governor of Edo State, on Thursday. The remark purportedly stated that Obi needed to obtain permission before travelling to the state. Obi said he had no qualms about travelling to any region of the country.<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Peter Obi’s<\/a> comments were made in Onitsha when a 50 million cheque for infrastructure development was presented to his alma mater, Christ the King College (CKC)<\/a>. Together with other Old Boys from the school, the donation aims to improve the institution’s learning environment and facilities.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the event, Peter Obi said, \u201cI am not afraid of visiting any state in Nigeria, particularly when the purpose is to support causes that contribute to nation-building, such as education, health, and poverty alleviation.\u201d<\/p>\n

He expressed disappointment that his recent visit to Benin was politicized, clarifying that the visit was strictly to support healthcare development in the state.<\/p>\n

Monday Okpebholo, Edo State Governor<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

\u201cI went to Benin to invest in a better life for the people. If they have good doctors and nurses, life will be better for them. What I expect the governor to do is to complement efforts aimed at improving society,\u201d Obi added.<\/p>\n

Regarding the donation to CKC, Peter Obi explained that it was an expression of appreciation to the organisation that helped to mould his and many others’ ideals.<\/p>\n

He urged other CKC alums nationwide to assist their old schools, emphasising that the government shouldn’t bear the entire burden of educational advancement.<\/p>\n
