According to a close supporter of the politician from Bayelsa, Jonathan, a PDP member, has reportedly decided to run for president in 2027, Vanguard confirmed Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The former president had agreed to run, the source said Vanguard, and the plot to conscript him into running on the PDP’s platform had advanced significantly.<\/p>\n

Additionally, according to the source, the former president had already met behind closed doors with a number of influential political figures both inside and outside the PDP, especially in the north, to confer with them and solicit their support for the 2027 presidential campaign.<\/p>\n

The politician claims that Goodluck met with General Ibrahim Babangida, retd., the former military president of Nigeria, last weekend at his Hilltop Mansion in Minna, Niger State, and informed him of his intention to run for a single term in 2027.<\/p>\n

Mallam Ibrahim Abdullahi, the PDP’s<\/a> Deputy National Publicity Secretary, however, acknowledged that the party had been working to reinstate Jonathan.<\/p>\n
