The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) has currently taken former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal into custody in its Abuja office.<\/strong><\/h5>\n

According to The Cable, Tambuwal, a former governor who is currently serving as a senator, is being held on suspicion of making N189 billion in illicit cash withdrawals.<\/p>\n

Following accusations by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) that the EFCC<\/a> was conducting selective investigations against opposition leaders, the development occurred.<\/p>\n

The party said that recent EFCC summonses to top opposition coalition members were politically motivated and connected to their political affiliations in a statement signed by Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, its national publicity secretary.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe withdrawals are in flagrant violation of the Money Laundering( Prevention & Prohibition) Act, 2022. The governor arrived at the EFCC\u2019s<\/a> Headquarters around 11:30 am and faced interrogators on the alleged financial crime.<\/p>\n
