Lere Olayinka,<\/a> Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has revealed that staff of the FCT Administration received their January salaries last Friday.<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Lere Olayinka further stated that the workers have also been paid one month out of the five months\u2019 outstanding wage award arrears.<\/a><\/p>\n

He made the disclosure in a statement while criticising the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) for mobilising workers in other sectors for a protest scheduled for Tuesday.<\/p>\n

\n

According to Lere Olayinka: \u201cFCTA workers received their January salary last Friday, along with one month\u2019s payment of the five months\u2019 arrears of the wage award.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cTwo months out of the five months\u2019 arrears of the wage award have already been paid, with the remaining three months to be paid alongside the February, March, and April salaries.<\/em><\/p>\n

\"FCTA\"<\/p>\n

\u201cBut the NLC is mobilising workers in other sectors, who should be at their duty posts, for a protest on Tuesday.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cMeanwhile, the FCTA workers on whose behalf the NLC is organising the protest were at work last Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. They will also be at work tomorrow.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cAlso, more than 20 states have stopped paying the wage award or did not implement it at all. The NLC has not done anything. It is the FCT, which is paying and has paid two months out of the five months\u2019 arrears, that is the problem for the NLC.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cLas las, those in the NLC will tell Nigerians what exactly they want from the FCT.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
