Bashir, El-Rufai’s son, posted on his verified X handle<\/a> on Friday night to confirm his father’s release.<\/p>\n

\"El-Rufai\"<\/p>\n

\u201cInna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji\u2019un. From Allah SWT we came, and to Him we shall all return. I would like to inform the public of the demise of my grandmother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, who passed away a few hours ago,\u201d the post read.<\/p>\n

The dead was reportedly dealing with age-related health issues that had gotten worse recently.<\/p>\n

Her condition reportedly deteriorated further after she learned of her son\u2019s detention by the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC).<\/p>\n

\"Nasir<\/p>\n

According to the family, the former governor had been closely monitoring his mother’s health before she passed away.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, prominent Nigerians have honoured the late Hajiya, including President Bola Tinubu, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani.<\/p>\n
