The African Democratic Congress(ADC), has insisted on going ahead with its planned convention, despite the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, derecognizing its leadership.<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Bolaji Abdullahi, the party’s spokesperson, issued a notification on Friday stating that the congress is anticipated to take place between April 7 and April 14, 2026.<\/p>\n

The screening of candidates will be the first step of the congress, which will conclude with a national convention according to information gathered.<\/p>\n

Bolaji Abdullahi, the national publicity secretary for the ADC,<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

\u201cThis is to notify all party members that, despite INEC\u2019s illegal actions, the African Democratic Congress will continue with its congresses as scheduled, having duly notified INEC by our letters dated 27th February 2026 and 28th March 2026.<\/p>\n

\u201cScreening of Aspirants\u20147th April 2026; Appeals on Screening Exercise\u20148th April 2026; Polling Unit, Ward, and Local Government Congresses \u2013 9th April 2026; Appeals on the Congresses-10th April 2026; State Congresses-11th April 2026; Appeals on the State Congresses-12th April 2026 and Convention-14th2026; April 2026,\u201d the notice reads.<\/p>\n

ADC Defies INEC, Announces Dates for Congresses, National Convention Amid Crisis<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

This comes only two days after INEC delisted the party\u2019s leadership under former Senate President David Mark.<\/p>\n

The party has denounced the ruling and demanded that Professor Joash Ojo Amupitan, the chairman of the electoral body, step down.<\/p>\n

However, according to Amupitan, the commission’s ruling was predicated on an ongoing legal dispute.<\/p>\n
