Suspected Fulani bandits have reportedly killed eight residents of Mbwelle Village in Kwatas District, Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State<\/a>, in what authorities have described as a fresh wave of reprisal attacks.<\/strong><\/h5>\n

The assault Plateau is said to have taken place around 10:30 p.m. on April 9, according to security sources.<\/p>\n

The incident was brought to public attention through a post on X by Zagazola Makama<\/span><\/span>, a counter-insurgency analyst known for monitoring developments in the Lake Chad region.<\/p>\n

The victims have been identified as Habila Istifanus (38), Hassan Istifanus (31), Iliya Mangut (70), Sunday Gideon (31), Innocent Banabas (20), Lucky Titus (38), Wisdom Lucky (15), and Bwehsun Hassan (25).<\/p>\n

Joint security personnel reportedly responded to a distress call but were unable to intercept the attackers, who had already fled before their arrival.<\/p>\n

\"plateau\"<\/p>\n

A security source blamed the delayed response on the significant distance\u2014approximately 15 kilometres\u2014between the military base and the affected community, coupled with challenging terrain.<\/p>\n

All victims, including the injured, were evacuated to Bokkos Cottage<\/a> Hospital in Plateau for treatment.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, troops have launched operations aimed at tracking down those responsible for the attack.<\/p>\n
