Segun Sowunmi, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has claimed that the party is positioning itself to be unelectable in the 2027 general elections.

Segun Sowunmi made the statement on Friday during an interview on Sunrise Daily, a programme on Channels Television, as reported by news outlets.
The PDP has recently been engulfed in internal political disputes, resulting in the emergence of two rival factions.
One faction loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has Abdulrahman Mohammed as chairman while the other has Umar Damagum as its chairman respectively.

Speaking on the programme, Segun Sowunmi said, “It’s still a very big task to be able to get us ready for significant chance for success in the next election.
“We mostly being underdone by the African Democratic Congress, ADC, even though when they started, we said who are they? But I warned. I said the second heart attack of PDP is what Atiku Abubakar is capable of doing. No matter how angry you get, if you underate him, you will pay for it.
“If you look at the ADC and the PDP, you will see that PDP is really working to make itself unelectable.”
