Seyi Makinde Appoints Major General Lukman Omoniyi as Oyo State Security Adviser

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has approved the appointment of Major General Lukman Tokunbo Omoniyi (rtd) as the state’s Executive Security Adviser on Security Coordination.
This appointment takes immediate effect and was conveyed in a letter issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde.

Governor Makinde congratulated Major General Omoniyi on his new role and charged him to strengthen the coordination of security operations across Oyo State. According to the governor, this appointment is aimed at ensuring the safety and security of lives and property in all parts of the state.

Major General Omoniyi (rtd) is a highly experienced senior infantry officer who served the Nigerian Army in several command, staff, and instructional capacities throughout his military career. He is therefore expected to leverage his wealth of experience to enhance security coordination in Oyo State.
He holds a Master of Science degree in Humanitarian and Refugee Studies and another Master of Science degree in Strategic Studies, both obtained from the University of Ibadan. He is also currently undertaking a doctoral program in Peace, Security and Humanitarian studies at the same university.

Residents have welcomed the appointment of General Omoniyi, expressing hope that the former army officer’s expertise will help improve the security architecture of Oyo State. Many believe his background in strategic and humanitarian studies will play a key role in addressing emerging security challenges.
