Vice President Sen. Kashim Shettima has reaffirmed the strong and lasting unity between Nigeria and the Niger Republic, emphasizing that the ties connecting both countries outweigh any factors that may attempt to create division.

Shettima made the remark during a courtesy visit to the Emir of Gumel at the official commissioning of the Juma’at Friday Mosque in Gumel.
According to him, “Nigeria and the Niger Republic are one people, closely linked and bound by shared heritage.”
“So don’t be deceived by propaganda that Nigeria doesn’t care for you. You are part of us, and we are part of you.
“I have my relatives there, our former Minister of Defence has relatives, former Minister Ali Magashi, and others,” the Vice President said.
He noted that misunderstanding is common in every relationship, but the best approach is to understand each other and resolve problems.

“I want to affirm to Nigeriens that President Bola Ahmad Tinubu loves you and that the country loves you. The bonds that bring both of us together are far stronger than the issues that seek to divide us,” the Vice President added.
He prayed for continued peace, unity, and stability between the two nations.
Governor Umar Namadi commended the Vice President for the visit, promising to support the Federal Government’s commitment to peace and stability in the country.
