SkyB Claims Burna Boy and Other Artists Did Not Support Him Despite His Role in Paving the Way

Veteran Nigerian singer SkyB has expressed disappointment over what he describes as a lack of support from current Port Harcourt artists, despite his earlier contributions to the city’s music scene.

In a recent episode of the KAA Truth Podcast, the ‘Pray For Me’ singer said he played a key role in helping to develop Port Harcourt music and supported artists such as Mr. 2Kay and Timaya during his peak years. However, he claimed that many of those he assisted have since distanced themselves after he fell out of the spotlight.

SkyB also said he believes Burna Boy, despite not being directly helped by him, should have offered support through a collaboration or financial assistance to help revive his career.

He further alleged that he missed out on opportunities due to industry bias, claiming he would have received more help if he were from another ethnic background.

According to him, one incident involved an artist allegedly refusing to share a stage with him despite a performance arrangement being facilitated through a government official.

He concluded by saying his frustration stems from feeling abandoned by those he once supported and from what he perceives as a lack of appreciation within the Port Harcourt music community.
