Sowore revealed this during his appearance on a television programme. He blamed the alliance’s efforts on previous political alliances that, in his opinion, made Nigeria’s administration worse.

Sowore emphasized that genuine change could only be achieved through an alliance of the oppressed.

He said, “I’m not joining any coalition. The coalition they formed in 2013 and 2015 led to the APC. Joining another coalition in 2025 is repeating the same mistake without learning from history,”

“The coalition that needs to be built is that of the oppressed. Joining another coalition made up of the same people who created Nigeria’s problems is an injustice and an injury to Nigerians,”

“I’m not part of those playing chess with the destiny of Nigerians,” Sowore said, dismissing rumors that he will join the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

This comes after Atiku, Obi, and Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, calling for an alliance to unseat President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

Speaking at a news conference of political stakeholders and concerned leaders, Atiku cautioned against political meddling that could threaten democracy.

As Nigeria prepares for another contentious election cycle, Sowore’s rejection of the opposition alliance highlights the deep seated differences among opposition leaders.
