Politician and activist, Omoyele Sowore has vowed to help free the embattled entertainer DJ Chicken, while accusing President Bola Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu, of deploying state power to suppress critics.
In an Instagram post, Sowore reached out to anyone who could link him with DJ Chicken’s family, stating his readiness to challenge the heavy charges brought against the entertainer by the Nigerian police.
Recall that DJ was arrested and locked up following controversial online remarks concerning Seyi Tinubu and President Bola Tinubu. Sowore argued that the entertainer shouldn’t spend a single day in detention, asserting that his right to free speech is constitutionally protected.
He wrote; “If anyone knows how to reach @djchicken_kukuruku’s family or relatives, I will be happy to advocate for him and help him challenge the burdensome charges brought against him by the jobless @nigeriapoliceforce.
“It is appalling that this Tinubu @officialasiwajubat regime continues to direct its prosecutorial powers against so many young Nigerians,” he added.
Beyond advocating for DJ Chicken, Sowore intensified the controversy by levelling serious allegations against Seyi Tinubu. He claimed that the president’s son uses private jets to fly young women to Abuja for drug-fuelled parties, arguing that authorities should be investigating and prosecuting Seyi instead of the entertainer.
He added; “It is @seyitinubu who ships young ladies on private jets to Abuja, who are drugged in sex-crazed parties in Abuja, who needs to be in prison.
Yes, Revolution NOW. #FreeDJChickenNow #TakeItBack #RevolutionNow.”

Backstory…
Earlier in July, DJ Chicken posted a video clip declaring that Tinubu would lose the election and threatening to kill Seyi Tinubu if he won. The footage quickly went viral, sparking widespread online backlash and leading directly to his arrest and prosecution.
Meanwhile, Sowore’s intervention in the matter comes less than two weeks after his own release from the Kuje Correctional Centre, where he had spent several weeks in detention.
Thuggery Allegations On Seyi Tinubu
In separate developments, allegations of thuggery have previously been levelled against Seyi. In May 2025, he was accused of thuggery and kidnapping.
The National Association of Nigerian Students’ factional president, Atiku Isah, is at the centre of the controversy. He claimed in an Abuja press conference that he was tortured and kidnapped on April 15 after refusing a N100 million bribe purportedly offered by Seyi and Ayodele Olawande, the Minister of Youth Development, to back Tinubu’s  government.

After declining the offer, Isah claimed that unknown thugs stripped him, assaulted him, and detained him against his will.
Additionally, in a more recent occurrence, in February 2026, social media activist, Vincent Ose popularly known as VDM called out President Bola Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu, over an alleged threat to his life.
Verydarkman made the allegation on in a viral video on Instagram.
