Weghorst Stars in Netherlands’ Euro 2024 Win Against Poland.
From not making the grade at Old Trafford to scoring the decisive goal for his country in the 2024 Euros, Wout Weghorst has come full circle. The former Manchester United striker was the hero for the Netherlands, securing a 2-1 victory over Poland in their European Championship opener.
Weghorst clinches it for the Netherlands
Weghorst came off the bench in the 81st minute and scored the winner just two minutes later, giving the Netherlands all three points.
The match had been level after Poland’s Adam Buksa opened the scoring, only for the Netherlands to equalize through Cody Gakpo.
This win provides the Netherlands with an ideal start in a challenging group that includes favorites France and dark horses Austria.
