The match kicked off with the Super Eagles having a goal disallowed in the 2nd minute by VAR, but that didn’t stop them from getting the lead in the 20th minute, as 2024’s African Footballer of the Year, Ademola Lookman, pounced on a low cross from Akor Adams to score Nigeria’s first goal.

Seven minutes later, another Akor Adams assist bounced off him into the path of Victor Osimhen to score the second goal for Nigeria to make it 2-0. Mozambique defenders Reinildo Mandava and Bruno Langa could do little to stop the Galatasaray forward from finding the back of the net.

Right after the second half, Osimhen tapped in a Lookman’s cross to the far corner to make it 3-0 for the Nigerian national team, who have dominated the game right from the first minute. With that goal, Nigeria has firmly planted their foot in the quarter finals in Morocco.

In the 75th minute, Akor Adams latched onto a pass from Lookman, beat his opponent easily, and pushed the ball past Mozambique’s Ernan Siluane at the near post to make it 4-0.

Nigeria’s Super Eagles heads into the 2025 AFCON quarter finals in a comfortable fashion. Their next match will be with either Algeria or Congo DR, who face each other in tomorrow’s round of 16 matches.
