Bridging the Communication Skills Divide
Africa’s creative and digital economies are surging – but research shows that many graduates still lack the practical, industry-relevant communication skills that companies are demanding. TalkComms, recognising this disconnect, conceived the summit as more than just an event: it’s an access portal for undergraduates, early-career storytellers, and young professionals to connect with mentors, build critical skills, and enter the world of professional communications.
Under the theme “The Future of Communication: Trends, Tech & Transformation,” the summit will gather more than 200 participants on-site and over 1,000 virtually.
By uniting voices from public relations, corporate communications, digital media, journalism, and tech, TalkComms aims to reshape how the next generation communicates, crafts stories, and adapts to emerging tools and platforms.

Why TalkComms Matters, and Why You Should Care
At its heart, TalkComms is more than a summit organiser. It’s Africa’s first dedicated hub for undergraduates and early-stage communicators who aspire to work in PR, corporate communications, journalism, content strategy, digital media, or brand storytelling.
Oluwasegun Ogundairo, Convener of TalkComms, emphasised the urgent need for such a platform:
“Across Africa, thousands of young communicators graduate each year with talent and ambition, but without access, mentorship, or practical exposure.”
TalkComms aims to tackle this by connecting young voices with industry experts, providing hands-on learning experiences, and creating a space where emerging storytellers can thrive — not just theoretically, but practically.
Co-Convener Ifeoluwa Johnson echoed this, saying the organisation’s mission is to:
“Connect. Equip. Amplify, and ensure that the next generation has a seat at the table.”
How to Join: It Costs Nothing
Participation in the summit is free, and registration is open to all students and young professionals.
To secure a spot, whether physically in Lagos or virtually across Africa, you can register via the official link.

The Bigger Picture: Closing the Skills Gap Across Africa
TalkComms Summit 2025 is not happening in a vacuum. It reflects a growing ecosystem-wide concern: many African graduates may have academic credentials, but they lack the right exposure or mentorship to land meaningful communication roles.
By placing industry leaders, young communicators, and aspiring storytellers in the same space — physically and virtually — TalkComms is helping to build a pipeline of talent that’s better prepared for the future of work. In particular, with the summit’s focus on trends, technology, and transformation, participants will grapple with critical issues like AI, digital media, and the future of content — helping to future-proof their careers.
