Boost Your Reels! Instagram Adds Speed Control
Instagram, owned by Meta, is again going TikTok’s way. This time, it allows people to play a reel at two times speed by long-pressing either side of their screen.

When TikTok launched, videos were 15 seconds long. As TikTok became more popular over the years, the social network was able to upload longer videos; hence, giving TikTok a fast-forward option so that its users can consume content at a faster pace.

Instagram Reels began merely by allowing users to upload videos of up to 15 seconds. Today, users can share videos of up to 3 minutes. Just like TikTok, with the new fast-forward option, Instagram wants its users to be able to speed through content.
Fast-forwarding a video does offer greater chances of the viewer reaching the end of long videos, and the idea behind Reels is exactly that: a quick source of entertainment. Some say short videos may be adversely affecting our attention spans and our ability to consume long-form content.

Seeing that the Instagram Reels is essentially a replica of TikTok, it would not be surprising if the app were to borrow certain features from the short-form video platform. This is also not the first instance, as the Remix feature is a clone of TikTok’s Duet tool.
