Grammy-winning Nigerian star Temilade Openiyi, known professionally as Tems, has made history as the first African female artiste to record seven songs on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart.

She reached the landmark after her track “What You Need” debuted at number 93 on this week’s Billboard Hot 100, pushing her total chart entries to seven.
With this achievement, she now joins fellow Nigerian singer Burna Boy and South African rock band Seether as the African acts with the highest number of Billboard Hot 100 entries, all tied at seven.

In 2022, Tems made history as the first African artist to debut at number one the Billboard Hot 100 chart with her collaborative hit with Future and Drake, ‘Wait For U.’
She is poised to break the tie with Burna Boy and Seether soon as J. Cole’s ‘Bunce Road Blues’ featuring her and Future is bound to debut on the Billboard Hot 100 chart next week.
