Wike: Tinubu Receives Renewed Calls To Sack FCT Minister

The National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) in the United States of America (USA) has urged President Bola Tinubu to fire Federal Capital Territory (FCT) minister Nyesom Wike with immediate effect, claiming that doing so would be the first step towards resolving the state’s ongoing political crisis.

Additionally, NADECO advised Tinubu to impose a six-month state of emergency in areas of Northern Nigeria that were impacted by insurgency and banditry. The president was cautioned by the pro-democracy group that the 2027 poll would not be credible in regions controlled by terrorists.

The call was made on Wednesday, January 7, during a speech in Port Harcourt by Lloyd Ukwu, President and CEO of NADECO USA. He claimed that until Wike is sanctioned, peace would be illusive and that the FCT minister’s activities were crucial to the Rivers problem.

Removing Wike as the FCT minister, according to Ukwu, would demonstrate that the president disapproved of his excessive involvement in state politics.

He said, “The main problem in Rivers State today, as far as this crisis is concerned, is the Minister of the FCT. Rivers people know where the problem lies. The President must call him to order. Wike is his employee.”

He went on to say that the impeachment of the governor of Rivers during the president’s absence highlighted the need for prompt action. In the event that the state collapsed, he threatened to hold President Tinubu accountable.
