Media personality and actress Toke Makinwa has shared her opinion on marriage, arguing that women should not feel pressured to marry in their 20s.
Speaking on a recent episode of her podcast, Toke Moments, alongside reality TV star Tacha, Makinwa said many women spend their 20s discovering who they are and are often not yet equipped to make life-changing decisions such as marriage.
According to her, a number of women who married at a young age later regretted making the decision so early.
“Women have no business getting married in their 20s. You don’t even know yourself yet. Those who did are regretting it now. Even those who are still married, if they are being honest, they will tell you they shouldn’t have rushed it,” she said.
Reacting to the discussion, Tacha recalled advice from her mother, describing marriage as an institution where those already inside sometimes want to leave, while those outside are eager to get in.
