Umar Sani Says PDP Ready for 2027 Political Alliances

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), Umar Sani, has revealed that the party is now open and ready for an alliance ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Sani disclosed this whille speaking during an interview on Tuesday on Arise Television.

He was speaking on the readiness of the party for next year’s general elections, noting that the PDP is the strongest party across the country.

He said, “Yes, of course, we are ready to accommodate alliances and collaboration, and I can assure you that, in view of the situation on ground and the lack of acceptability of the All Progressives Congress, APC, by Nigerians, PDP stands a chance.

“Nigerians have rejected the APC because they believe that the APC is the agent of poverty and poor governance.

“There are so many protests on bad governance. Nigerians have openly rejected the APC, and so they need an alternative. The PDP is very poised, very ready to provide that alternative.”

BACKSTORY…

The comes after Kabiru Turaki led faction of the PDP declared former President Goodluck Jonathan as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.

Factional party members ratified Jonathan’s candidacy on Saturday during a special national convention at the party’s office in Area 10, Garki District, Abuja.

Despite Jonathan’s absence from the event, Fred Agbedi, a member of the Bayelsa State House of Representatives, accepted his certificate of return on his behalf.
