‘What I discussed with Amaechi’ — Atiku Breaks Silence Following Visit To Amaechi

ADC presidential flag bearer, Atiku Abubakar has revealed details of his meeting with former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi.

Atiku explained that their conversation was centred on the nation’s economic and security challenges as well as the need for national solutions.

The former vice president disclosed this in a statement on his X handle on Thursday after visiting Amaechi at his Abuja residence on Thursday.

According to him, both leaders held extensive discussions on the “troubling state” of the country and the responsibility of patriotic Nigerians to contribute to efforts aimed at addressing the nation’s challenges.

Atiku said, “Beyond the warmth and camaraderie, we had deep and honest conversations about the troubling state of our nation, the growing economic pain, insecurity, and the urgent responsibility on patriotic Nigerians to continue engaging in the search for solutions that can rescue our country from drift and despair.”

During the visit, the former vice president also revealed that he wished Amaechi a happy birthday.

Additionally, he described Amaechi as “a thoroughly well-loaded Gunner,” noting that the former minister took the football banter in good spirits.

Recall that the Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar emerged winner of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary election.

The returning officer of the ADC presidential primary election, Tunde Ogbeha made the announcement late on Wednesday night after collation.

Following the announcement, Abubakar received the party’s flag as the ADC flag bearer after which he received the ADC flag as the party’s standard-bearer for the 2027 elections.

Meanwhile, the figures as of Wednesday showed that Hayatu-Deen received 156,075 votes, Amaechi polled 248,455, and Atiku secured 1,390,276 votes with Abubakar leading in 22 states.

Abubakar earlier said that he would personally visit ex-Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, and Mohammed Hayatu-Deen to seek their support in next year’s general elections.
