Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), stated on Friday that he does not represent President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Wike clarified that the purpose of his monthly media chat is to educate the public about his work in the Federal Capital Territory.
He made these remarks in response to activist politician Omoyele Sowore’s assertion that the President had prohibited him from holding the parley by speaking during his monthly media appearance.

Wike said, “Of course, I am not speaking for government, I am letting the world know what we are doing under the Tinubu’s administration.
“I am Minister of Federal Capital Territory and I owe a duty to let the public know what is happening within the territory, what we are about to do, and what we are going to do in the future, which is my responsibility.”
Wike further emphasized that he never fell sick and flown abroad for medical treatment, as claimed by Sowore.

He said: “I am not a spokesperson for the government, I am not talking about different government. I am talking about activities of the ministry, of the FCT. If I don’t do, whose responsibility is it?
“He talked about somebody being sick, we are all human beings, anybody can fall sick any time but it’s unfortunate too, I never fell sick to be flown abroad. So these are things you don’t need to pay attention to.
“And then somebody said, the president banned me from having a media chat. It’s the same junk News that they will carry. Who is responsible for this?

“The same man who is collecting money from people. SaharaReporters carried this and that. How will a president ban you from letting people know, letting the public know, of what the administration is doing, particularly as it pertains to the FCT territory?
“So it’s not everything you read or whatever you hear you begin to take seriously.”
