Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has warned that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would lose his support in the next Abuja Area Council elections.
The FCT minister made this claim during a Friday media roundtable in Abuja, where he also noted that the party was essentially unprepared for the general elections in 2027.
He mentioned impunity and internal conflict within the main opposition.
Wike also stated that the absence of genuine dedication to opposition politics by the People’s democratic party, saying this was one of the primary factors contributing to the party’s current status.
He stated that the PDP Governors Forum, while influential, was only a pressure group and not an organ of the party.
The FCT minister said, “For you to say I want to lead the opposition party is not by mouth. You have to sacrifice a lot of things”.
“If the PDP does not keep their house in order, I will not support them for the Area Council election” he added
