Wike’s aide confirms FCT minister’s interview amid controversial sickness rumours

Lere Olayinka, media aide to the Federal Capital Territory, FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike has confirmed that his principal has been scheduled for a television interview on September 18.

Olayinka made this confirmation in a bid to put to rest rumours making the rounds that the FCT Minister jetted out of the country following a deteriorating health situation.

It was previously revealed by an online report currently making rounds that Wike was allegedly sent abroad for urgent medical care in the United Kingdom.

According to the report, the Minister was reportedly diagnosed wit a congestive heart and needed urgent medical treatment.

This is however not the first of its kind as earlier this year, reports emerged that Wike had collapsed and was immediately flown abroad for treatment. However, the minister later dismissed the claims, describing them as false and politically motivated.

“There was never a time I collapsed. There was never a time anybody took me anywhere for medical attention. People who spread such remorse should focus on reality,” he stated.

More recently, Lere in a post on his Facebook page on Sunday, said the Minister is scheduled to appear on Channels TV on Thursday this week.

The post reads, “FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, will be on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday, September 18, 2025, from 7PM to 8:30PM”.

Meanwhile, the suspended Governor of Rivers State Siminalayi Fubara is expected to be reinstated on the day of the scheduled interview.
