A mother was detained by the police in Isiokolo, Ethiope-East Local Government Area, Delta State, for fatally flogging her one-year-old son with a cane. The Kokori village is where the incident took place.
It was gathered that the child was flogged so severely that he was unable to withstand the woman’s abuse.
The woman is being accused by the residents of the area and neighbours of channeling her frustrations to the innocent little boy, further describing her as a disgruntled lady.
The woman reportedly lost her temper when the child’s father, a suspected online scammer, denied being responsible for her pregnancy, forcing the woman to take full responsibility alone until the time of delivery.
According to insiders, the woman becomes upset whenever she sees the child because she recalls how badly she was treated by the father.
Although the boy had done nothing wrong, it was revealed that on that tragic day, the mother had turned her aggression to him and killed him by flogging. The child allegedly passed away before the neighbours could get him to the hospital.
Following this, efforts were made to reach the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, however, he is yet to give any statement on the incident.
