Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has expressed deep sadness over the death of five people who were killed in an explosion along the Gurusu–Gwashi road in Bukkuyum Local Government Area on Wednesday.

In a statement shared on his official Facebook page, Governor Lawal condemned the incident as a “senseless loss of innocent lives,” adding that the explosive device had been planted by armed bandits operating in the area.
The Zamfara governor also commiserated with the family of Mu’azu Gwashi, the Vice Chairman of Bukkuyum Local Government Area, who was murdered by his abductors after spending over six months in captivity.

Gwashi was kidnapped earlier this year, with his abductors initially demanding a N30 million ransom. They reportedly collected N15 million but still went ahead to kill him.
Governor Lawal prayed for the repose of the souls of all the victims and asked Allah to grant their families the strength to bear the loss.
